Key Features of the HOWO 6×4 Fuel Tank Truck
Chassis & Powertrain
The truck uses a classic 6×4 configuration – two drive axles at the rear. This gives good maneuverability when empty and strong traction under full load, especially on climbs or soft ground. Under the cab, you get a 336–430 hp engine, matched with an HW19710 10-speed manual transmission (with PTO) and HC16 heavy-duty rear axles. The combination is well proven for low transmission loss. The frame is double-layer high-strength steel, and the rear suspension uses multi-leaf springs – thick and tough enough for maximum loads.
Tank Body & Transfer System
Standard tank volume is 20,000 liters (20 m³), but custom sizes are available. The tank is made from Q235 carbon steel; critical areas are 5–6 mm thick. Stainless steel or aluminum alloy is optional for higher-end needs. For loading and unloading, the truck comes with a pump (including a safety valve), a flow meter, a hose reel, and a delivery nozzle – so you can meter fuel accurately on site.
Safety Engineering
Safety is built into the design. The tank has multiple separate compartments to limit surge and reduce explosion risk. Each compartment has an emergency shut-off valve (sea valve) that closes during loading/unloading, plus an explosion-proof manhole cover. A rubber insulating plate sits between the tank and the chassis to prevent stray currents. At the rear, a static grounding strap drags on the ground, along with a grounding terminal to discharge static buildup. Dry powder fire extinguishers are carried as standard.
Operator & Customization Details
The cab is a HW76 wide-body unit with an air-suspended driver's seat, air conditioning, and a bunk for long trips – fatigue matters. Optional extras include vapor recovery, an overfill prevention system, remote shut-off for the sea valves, and a tax-control fuel dispenser.

Whole truck shipped as one unit. Vulnerable parts (pump, meter, hoses) individually wrapped. Threaded ports capped. Tank covered with tarpaulin. Light grease on exposed metal – easy to clean.
25–35 days after deposit. Driven onto Ro-Ro vessel, or lashed on bulk carrier. Optional knockdown for container shipping. Document pack, tool kit, and warranty card inside cab.
